Basic sustainability & transparency
We tied our growth to your trust in us, so we don't have to rely on VCs or other nameless investors. Right now, that means every need and every development is financed out of the co-founders' own pockets. That's fine for now, but it's not sustainable long term. LeafPlaza's goal is to be financed by people like you instead.
Reaching that goal also lets us go further on transparency: we'll publish our repositories. Anyone will be able to inspect it, and any user will be able to weigh in on what they see.
That doesn't mean we're doing nothing until we get there. We're building, just slowly. Help us speed development through a subscription.

LeafPlaza's EU relay
A relay is a service we use to pull in content from accounts outside LeafPlaza. It also distributes your content to other relays, so your posts get seen across the AT Protocol network. Read more about how this works.
Right now, we use Bluesky's relay. That's not sustainable. If Bluesky ever goes down, or censors our content, we lose the ability to bring posts to you or push your posts out to others. That's why our goal is our own LeafPlaza EU relay, reduce dependency and improve resilience.

Creator payments
No social platform succeeds without creators who thrive on it. A good creator deserves to make a living doing what they do best, and making the AT Protocol network the place for successful creators has always been one of LeafPlaza's goals.
We're starting small: creators will be able to set a monthly subscription, and their followers can support them directly. This is just the beginning. We will keep building more features for creators from here.

Private direct Messaging
Right now, all DMs run through Bluesky's messaging system. That comes with several problems, but the biggest for us is centralization. Bluesky has direct control over it.
Our fix: a truly federated, end-to-end encrypted DM layer. We'll be the first AT Protocol client to integrate it, and we'll leave it open for any other AT Protocol app to build into their own UI. What we actually want is for everyone to have a decentralized and native option within the AT Protocol.

Why are you not building this already?
We're already working toward all of this. But neither founder works on it full time. We rely on paid jobs to get by, so progress is slow.
We're also chasing other ways to fund this. Private investment is off the table, so we're applying for public grants instead. That's a real option, as long as a grant doesn't come with strings attached that compromise our autonomy.
